I've posted about this on Lamma dog owners' FB page, but thought I'd post here too in the hope of finding someone who knows the owner.
On a walk with a friend and our dogs up the cable road near Tai Peng, our dogs discovered what we think is a shallow pet grave. It obviously wasn't dug very deep and the carcass was wrapped in black bin bag. One corner of the bag was torn open (possibly by our dogs - they were very excited by their discovery) and we could see what looks like the coat of a yellow or white dog inside. The whole thing is exposed and needs dealing with.
If it's your pet or if you know who put it there, please can you either move it or bury it deeper. I understand the sentiment behind burying your pet at it's favourite walk spot, but this is WAY too shallow and the plastic bag interferes with natural decomposition.
It's up on the plateau area at the top of the mountain bikers' course. The ground is extremely hard up there, I guess that's the reason for the shallowness of the grave.
Many people walk dogs up there and if our dogs' reaction was anything to go by, I'd advise you to avoid the area or leash/muzzle your dog til you pass by.
I'd rather give the owner the chance to deal with it in a respectful manner before either contacting any government departments or getting help to move it, but it needs to be dealt with soon, it will only get more unpleasant with the passage of time and the increase in temperature.
If you know anyone that has buried a pet up there can you please ask them to check the site? Thanks
