Why dont you find a new flat instead of giving up your pet?!

Did you not think to ask if dogs were allowed before signing your lease?

If there is a lease, and it doesn't specify "no pets" the landlord can't force you to give it up. Of course, they won't be happy and probably won't renew the lease when it expires.
