This is just one of several surveys commissioned by BoL necessary for a potential future re-application of the changing Baroque project.
Having lost the first round in the TPB last Dec, as expected they haven't given up.

Just a little more background and info about the archeological survey this summer:

The announcement of the survey in the "Blog of Baroque":
http://www.bol-hk.com/template?series=32&article=407

The application to Govt. for the archeological survey, with maps, are on the LivingLamma site:
More Developer activity in South Lamma.

Plus a "Letter to the Editor" in the SCMP last week. The letter is signed off as "Martin Bode, Wanchai", but Martin also lives in Mo Tat Wan with a great view over South Lamma from his rooftop, so he might be able to tell us more about the survey in progress in his neighbourhood. Maybe Damon could keep us informed as well, plus other Mo Tat Wan residents, I hope!

"Lamma faces renewed threat

Christine Loh has got it right again - nature is one of Hong Kong's greatest assets ("Nature's riches", July 13).

So why are government departments allowing plans for the despoliation of South Lamma to rise from the dead? In support of Baroque on Lamma, an "environmental consultancy" wants to drill and excavate more than 40 sites there in the coming months for an "archaeological survey" bizarrely authorised by the Antiquities and Monuments Office.

The Town Planning Department rejected the entire Baroque on Lamma development proposal in December 2011; 50 per cent of the digging and drilling will be done on public land zoned conservation area and coastal protection area, according to documents provided by the Lands Department.

Is the Town Planning Department decision irrelevant for other departments? Can zoning regulations issued by one department be disregarded by another? An original concept of "planning process" indeed.

Martin Bode, Wan Chai"

To be far, archaeologists are usually careful to restore the site after they've done their dig.

Watching archaeologists from AMO and YSW's ArchAssess (not involved in this project) at work, the ERM-employed archeologists will likely do their best to fully restore the borehole locations. They wouldn't want embarrassing photos of any messes left behind to be published, I'd guess.
Mo Tat Wan residents, reporters and the Lamma-zine will definitely be eager to get photos of the works in progress and after completion.

The last archaeological survey of South Lamma was done in 1998 by the Govt.; it yielded some pretty fascinating info about the history of the area and the villages down there, how old some of the artefacts are and what might be worth protecting. The results of this new survey will also be made public, I think.

Lands Department reject ERM's apply for digging(LD DLO/IS MH 0040)

1. 發給村代表及南丫島的離島區議會議員(就此個案而言,向模達灣、模達村、榕樹下村及東澳村的村代表送達通告);
2. 在實地或有關的物業張貼;
3. 鄉事委員會主席(視乎地點,把有關通告發給(北段)鄉事委員會或(南段)鄉事委員會,而就本個案而言,則送達通告給(南段)鄉事委員會;

Am I being completely dense and missing something here?

Apart of the 'obvious' reference to the Eden Project this company seems to have no other connection to it apart from its name.

The company seems to be set up purely for the BOL project - at least that seems to be the only item they are/have been working on.

Does anyone know anything more about the company?

And who will have a full half day to invest in listening to their views? Will they listen to ours?

Just part of the continuing strategy of greenwashing the Baroque plan to build a mini Disco Bay.

So they decided to build a couple of massive green houses instead, nice.

Someone should point out about the climate here and in UK, might not need a green house at all, in fact they could just leave it exactly the way it is.

Actually, I can feel a protest coming on, anyone game?
They're even laying on a ferry!!

Ciara Shannon of Eden Ventures has contacted me and confirmed the meeting has been cancelled, the Eden Project team (no link to Eden Ventures) has decided not to attend and the promised baseline review has not been completed. A bit of a fiasco all round!

Any reasons given for the Eden Project cancelling (or postponing?) their HK visit to present their project, reasons from any of the parties involved?

If this report is correct, Baroque have pulled a fast one. Apparently a revised development proposal for south Lamma has been available for public consultation, but the period ended on 27th June 2013, and the Town Planning Board will hear the case on 8th July.

Sounds like somebody got the year wrong. It looks exactly like the last application and I haven't heard anything about this yet. Progress as known, see above.

I'll chase up my sources right away, but if this would be true it would mean that all of us Lammaites keeping a close eye on this project are totally uninformed and out of the loop.

Feedback from BoL:

"The fact is that we have not made any resubmission yet. Content of the post seems to be taken from last submission to TPB back in 2011 and are outdated by now.
The dates are fictitious. We don’t know the purpose of the post."

Tks LG. Panic over. The publication should remove the story if it's BS.

The Real News HK has deleted their cover story, after somebody alerted the writer about his major "mistake".
No explanation or apology so far...

Aside from the date of the application, the rest of the story looks well researched.
A slip up, not a hoax.
The same guy, Hip Kee,also wrote about the oil spill.

Seems likely he lives in south Lamma.
