I got alerted about this by a very upset lady on the ferry who had seen the damage first-hand. I asked HK Electric for details and their Public Affairs Dept. replied right away:
"A total of nine solar lamps at Lamma Winds were found to be damaged on 29 November during a routine check by HK Electric staff. A report had been made to the police on the same day and we are now assisting in police investigation. Solar lamps have been replaced immediately and regular checks to the wind turbine will continue to be conducted. On the offshore wind farm plan, wind monitoring work has started in March this year and will last for a year. Wind data collected so far have shown a satisfactory level of wind resources at the site."
No details about whether their (at least 2) security cams caught somebody in this idiotic act. Anybody with additional information, please contact the local police right away.
