The joys of overflowing rubbish at every bin along the family trail during the easter weekend.

Would it be too much to expect:

1. increased litter pick ups on the holidays
2. recycling bins along the route
3. water fountains along the route to reduce plastic waste
4. officers doling out fixed penalties for littering to fund the above?

No, officers only dole out penalties for selling water bottles on the trail, but not for throwing empty bottles on the ground. Relax, this isn't Singapore.

I sent my comments to 1823. Here is their reply:

We have arranged to clear the refuse immediately after the Easter Holiday. Please rest assured that we will better arrange our cleansing services during holiday periods in the future, including provision of frequency bin emptying and extra bins to contain the influx of refuse.

Meanwhile, with regard to your suggestion of installing drinking water fountains, we have referred it to the Home Affairs Department for consideration.

Thanks again and please contact me when in need.

Thanks and Regards,

Quite a reasonable response. Hope she's good to her word.
