Dear Lamma-Gung,
Thank you very much for your email enquiry regarding the Lamma Village Sewerage Phase 2 project. Please be advised that the Drainage Services Department Contract No. DC/2013/04 “Outlying Islands sewerage, stage 2 – Lamma village sewerage phase 2, package 1” have commenced on 20 December 2013. The Contractor is Sequence Construction Company Limited. They just completed the site office at Tai Wan To and they are now preparing the preliminary works including the initial topographical survey and purchasing of materials for this contract, etc.
Regarding the construction materials on the beach and the new building close to Tai Wan To beach as mentioned in your email and website, please be advised that the new building is the site office for our Resident Site Staff (RSS) and the construction materials are for the construction of this site office. The concerned construction materials were removed from the beach by 18 March 2014 and the beach is now clear of any construction materials. We are pleased to enclose some record photos which were taken on 18 March 2014 showing the condition of the beach for your reference. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to the dragonboat invitation races and the beach users due to the construction materials.
Further, we would like to advise that the site office renovation is anticipated to be completed by June 2014. This site office is on temporary basis and will be removed upon completion of the sewerage works. The electric supply for this site office will be provided by Hong Kong Electric Co. Ltd. and we assure that diesel generators will not be used for this site office. Regarding the height of this site office, please be advised that it meets the height restrictions laid down by DLO.
Since the location of site office falls within Tai Wan Site of Archaeological Interest, no ground excavation is permitted with a view to preserve the archaeological resource. In this regard, the construction of the site office have not involved any excavation works and archaeological digs is thus not required. Moreover, close liaison and regular reporting to the Antiquities and Monuments Office (AMO) of Leisure and Cultural Services Department have been carried out during the course of construction of the site office to ensure that the works would not cause any adverse archaeological impact.
In the meantime, we appreciate your continuous support and valuable advices for this sewerage project. In the near future, our RSS will be full time on site at Lamma Island and they will closely monitor the sewerage construction works. Should you require any further information, please feel free to contact our Resident Engineer, Mr. Adrian Ng at 6620 6613 (mobile) or
