From Claudia of the Lamma Dragons: "This year the Lamma Dragons Dragonboat Club invested in a 10-man small boat with one aim of developing dragonboating for the younger generation of children on Lamma Island. The purpose of this is to provide a new sport to 12-17 year olds on Lamma and expand our team and train this group for races in the under 18 category. To start this off we will have an Open Day on August 4th to gauge interest and let people try and have some fun. Following that we provide opportunities to train those interested. Please can you help me to advertise this event - ALL ARE WELCOME. Those interested can email me - claudia_tarr@yahoo.com - and I will send them a link to a Google docs document where they can choose a time slot and add their information or ask questions. In order to take part a waiver must be signed by a parent, participants must be able to swim 50m unaided and they will be required to wear a life jacket on the Open Day." http://lammadragons.com/

More fine photos from Claudia, showing Lamma's next generation of Victorious Lamma Dragons! She writes: "The Youth Paddling was a great success. About 24 kids turned up - quite a few slightly reluctant but after a short time on the water the kids seemed to really enjoy it. We are planning to have another Open Day in a few weeks then we will begin training for races in September 2013. We are still looking for more paddlers between the ages of 12-17 so if your readers didn't make the last open day they can email me at claudia_tarr@yahoo.com for details of our next event. WE WANT YOU FOR THE LAMMA DRAGONS YOUTH TEAM!"
