You can just walk in and watch it, standing. The tickets are for seats and the kudos of sponsorship. |

Dragon Boat races start at 10:15am at Gaido freight pier, finals at 1pm. Printed programme available outside the District Council Office just after Lamma Gourmet just after Lamma Giurm3t deli, later this week. To be scanned and uploaded here as soon as availlable. There's a funky Lamma Day banner but I've only seen it at the Aberdeen ferry pier so far. Anywhere on Lamma as well? |

Not on YSW or SKW Main Streets... maybe inside the YSW ferry pier? The A5-size printed Lamma Day programme should be available from the YSW District Council Office, but I haven't seen it yet. Tin Hau Festival Day on Easter Sunday at the Gaido Pier in the 1st phase of the YSW Harbour Reclamation (completed 15+years ago, only used for storing construction materials, construction temp offices, handling waste & sewage, plus illegal dumping since then, till recently when the new Police Station opened. 2nd phase completing the entire up-to-50m-deep Harbour Reclamation is in preparation now) Notice on YSW Soccer Pitch, closed for 1.5 months due to Cantonese Opera from Apr 19-23. It's an all-new troupe this year, as the 20-year-long Fung Ming Hing opera troupe lost its principal actor a few months back; principal actress and famous Canto Opera star Sui Muet-Sze didn't want to continue without him. Stop by for the spectacle, it's free to stand just along and all around the opera tent. Bring a long lens for great photos and videos!

Today, Saturday 19, the ticket booth opened at 7:30pm and the show is at 8pm. Ticket price is 100$. |

First posters for Tin Hau 2015: Cantonese Opera in YSW Football Pitch from May 8-12, seats $500-$1,800, I think. Or free, if you stand just outside the tent. Use long lenses and tripods if you want good photos.

This is the temporary platform outside the Sampan Rest. on Main Street for the VIPs (HKKF, HK Electric, local politicians and Tin Hau organisers, etc.). This is restricted access and only VIPs will be permitted in there. The races this year will take place along the YSW ferry pier instead of the Gaido Pier as in all former years! Poster submitted by Solid Kwan. She writes: "The 'man' in the middle is a famous lady [Koi Ming Fai] in Chinese Opera circles, so it should attract a sizable audience from on and off Lamma." Wed, Apr 27 - Sun, May 1 in the YSW Football Pitch/Playground, which will be closed as usual for almost 2 months before and after the performances. The YSW Plaza behind it will remain empty, till the temp library will set up in there while the current little library at the ferry pier will be torn down and rebuilt as a $50 million, 3,000 sqft structure. Might take quite a while...
