See http://hk.centamap.com/gc/home.aspx

There are tracks directly from Lo So Shing to the Stenhouse peak, but they are overgrown and hard to find.

Best way is to go towards Sok Kwu Wan and then take the path (concrete) going SE to Sham Wan. This goes up between Ling Kok Shan, on the left, above Sok Kwu Wan with the antennae at the top, and Stenhouse on the right. At the highest point of the path you can go up Stenhouse.
There aren't any made paths, just eroded tracks. Just aim at the peak and pick a track. They are crumbly when dry and slippery when wet. But if you take care, it's just a hard walk.

You could try to find your way down the north side to Lo So Shing, but don't do it alone.

We've done this way up once with an experienced friend guiding us, and down to Lo So Shing twice, but usually prefer the most popular path up and down the front via the pavilion and the Sok Kwu Wan Tin Hau Temple
Never try any of these paths alone! And the Lo So Shing route, up or down is just so long, steep and bothersome, so much climbing in river beds and through thick brush. Last done it on Jan 1, but probably never again, the front is much nicer, though very steep and tough as well, definitely NOT for tourists and small dogs which you'd have to carry in many places.

Wait for a hill fire above LSS, then it's easy (if a bit dusty and ashy)

Yearly Resolution Hike coming up, the New Year day ascent of Mt. Stenhouse (353m), the highest peak on Lamma Island!

It's been renamed to Good Riddance Day 2015 this year by the "organizers", the Pak Kok Marcus & Jane family. Contact Marcus directly if you know him and if you're interested to join.

Good footwear, long trousers, juice/drinks and snacks are essential. Light gloves (thorny bushes) highly recommended by myself as this is NOT a touristy walk, taking several tough hours. It's quite a climb up and down as there's just a bush path, no stairs, railings or a proper path.

We had about 40 (mostly) Lammaites last year, see photos and links higher up in this topic.

Some of us might try to go down to Turtle Beach (open in winter), if we can find a path. The rest of us might go down the long way to Lo So Shing beach (a path I'm not eager about myself anymore, see above).

You're welcome to join the Facebook conversation group.

Down from Mt. Stenhouse to Turtle Beach, a route I'd love to take but never did so far:
