Firefighters arrived at the scene, broke into the victim's room, found him unconscious and sent him to Lamma clinic for treatment. In a coma, they helicoptered him to Eastern Hospital." |

No doctor on Lamma on Sundays, so a good time to commit suicide. They'll never get you to a hospital in time. |

I never did think that Hung SHing Yeh was quite that bad. It's quite nice most of the time. |

There's a least two hotel-like places in Hung Shing yeh (Concerto Inn and neighbouring Dayan Resort are not officially hotels, but registered only as hostels, I believe. NO official hotel anywhere on Lamma). Plus some little places for rent for the night. Even the locals I asked don't know about this suicide yet as it was a visitor this time, not somebody living here. The Clinic would know, but they're bound by privacy laws. Alan is right, and a place by a public beach is a nice place to spend any time, even your last few hours. Suicides are not uncommon on Lamma, that's one reason several groups are visiting people living alone at home, checking up on them if they're OK or if there might be any "medical emergencies". |

I don't know what the bureaucrats say, but by any normal definition, Concerto is a hotel. See e.g. http://www.trivago.hk/hong-kong-73566/h ... nn-1556607 which calls it a 3-star hotel. I think Dayan is owned by the same people, it's pretty much an annexe to Concerto. |
