Pleasure Travel by Expats living in Hong Kong
"Expatriates move to Hong Kong for many reasons. Some come for career reasons; others for lifestyle reasons. Many also come because Hong Kong acts as base to explore this part of the world.
No-one has looked at pleasure travel by expatriates before. Yet, you (we) represent an important market. The assumption is that almost all pleasure travel involves home-return visits. But, how true is that?
Researchers at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Institute for Tourism Studies, Macau are conducting a study on travel by expats living in either Hong Kong or Macau.
The study examines pleasure travel patterns and the reasons for these patterns, by examining such factors as the reason to migrate in the first place, whether this area feels like home, your intended length of stay and other issues.
Those who are new to Hong Kong as well as those who have lived here for many years are invited to participate.
