I know this thread is spread over a couple of years, but I will be moving to Lamma soon and am more than a little concerned at what I'm reading. Have things calmed down, or is crime something that I need to be worried about with a young family?

I have lived in the new territorries and three different districts of kowloon. i have never felt endangered anywhere in hk (except my briefcase was stolen in the crowd of mong kok once). lamma seems to me the most peaceful and safest place i have ever seen. maybe some of the dogs here are illegal immigrants, though...

a nice place to live, hereby recommended again

Hi from Hanoi. Sorry to hear about the break-ins. all this stuff about IIs always strikes me as a load of old..tho.
why would IIs leave yuan behind?
When i had all that crap from Dominique, the vile frenchman (i hear he's making Lantau's life a misery these days), the police were good at listening it out with overagitated expates, but better at drinking tea....
long may your garden bloom & prosper.Pak Kokkiians,
fiona

A friend of mine in Pak Kok had her flat broken into during the middle of the day about 2 weeks ago. She was on holiday and looks like one too many people knew. It must be a friend of someone who lives there, otherwise they wouldn't have had any idea no one would be there.

Don't assume it is so safe and be careful who you tell you are going on holiday
