What happened to the online ferry timetable?

The HKKF website seems to have had serious loading troubles yesterday and part of this morning. I'm simply deep-linking to the relevant ferry info on their site.
It seems OK now, back to normal.

It hasn't moved, it's still on the top left of the home page of this site (and all top level pages), I only resorted the links:

The frames in the new HKKF site don't work on Mac!

That's no big deal for me, really, since I have memorised most of the weekday schedule now, and also keep a hard copy timetable in my diary...

Well, not much I can do about it from my side, as the problem is on the HKKF site. Best, if as many Mac users as possible would complain to HKKF and their website directly (good luck!):

I'd consider to copy the time tables over to my site, but that's potentially troublesome for any future ferry schedule changes.

But as the ferry time tables are so important and
there are so many Mac users living on Lamma and
the scrolling in the ferry time tables is troublesome for PC users as well,
I've just fixed the problem, copying the 3 ferry time tables over to this site. Try it on the home page and let me know if you like it!

If the ferry company ever cleans up their Mac-incompatibility, then I'll link back to them.

Any more problems with using this site?

All this work on getting the timetable uploaded is admirable but nowhere does it mention about freight costs for excessive photocopying. This simple request has been lingering on this site for years, surely we can get this cleared up once and for all.

HKKF's schedule page would not scroll if I use FireFox (and yes, I use PCs).

It didn't work in Opera; I could read it by turning off the styles.

So I hope that my new ferry time tables works on all browsers and Macs and PCs?
It's all straight-forward html, like most of this site, with a lot of php (forums) and a sprinkling of JavaScript thrown in...

Thanks Gung - actually, I was only highlighting the fact that the HKKF time-tables don't work on my home computer, and wasn't implying that anything should be done on this site. Thanks very much for taking the extra step, anyway.
By the way, the time-tables on this site work on both Mac Safari and IE! :jump:

Thanks Alan.

LG - I was trying to use the link under the sticky "Ferry Timetables" on this Travelling Tips forum. It still doesn't work.

Zippy, you mean my message in this topic above?

It's not supposed to work as I didn't link it.

All the ferry links are on the top left of the home page of this site, where everybody can find them right away. Ferry links in this forum would be of use only to the few people following this particular topic and only for a few days, till new messages are posted and the one with the ferry links has moved out of sight of people checking for new messages only.

Should there be any more external (or internal) "Quick Links" at the top of the home page, so people can easily & quickly find them?

Not counting your own sites, of course, which are always welcome to be added to the Links page, which is just one click away from the home page and one click away from almost every other page on this site.

LG, I'm not talking about your message.

In the forums section is a forum titled Travelling Tips. At the top of this forum is a Sticky (always there, no matter how many posts and therefore can't get buried). This Sticky is titled "Ferry Timetables". When clicked upon, this sticky leads us to 4 links which are supposed to link to the relevant ferry timetables. They don't work.

I think many of the people here share my habit of only looking at the forums section of this site, not the homepage, which is why I immediately went to the travelling tips section to look for the timetable. I was hoping to pass the link on to a visitor from HK side who had asked me what the times were and which ferries could carry freight.

Ah, I see. I totally forgot about that ancient Sticky message.
OK, I've updated it, referring people to the home page with a direct link. No need to have important, frequently changing info like this in several places on this site. This is the new Sticky message:<HR>
All up-to-date ferry time tables are on the home page of this website.

Click here or on Home/Blog at the top left of every page of these forums.<HR>
By not going to the home page you're actually missing out on so much of what's going on on Lamma:
You never hear about all the many events that never make it into the Events forum,
quite a few photo galleries from various photographers that never get mentioned in any forum,
plus all the site-specific announcements and Lamma news published ONLY in the blog.

I'm hoping that most forum readers might have at least a quick look at the home page at least once every 1-2 weeks, as it changes at least daily. The forums are just one of SIX major sections of this fast-growing website. All are linked from the top of every page in these forums as well, so they're just a single click away from any forum message.
