Lamma was a great disappointment. My husband and I have recently moved to Hong Kong. We'd visited Shek O and found it beatiful and bustly. We were expeting the same standard of beach on Lamma. When we got off the ferry we were greeted by graffited walls, a smelly harbour and dirty dogs wandering around. We wandered therough the street which was quite pleasant and we found a fabulous restaurant- book worm cafe. We then took the walk to the other side of the island. The whole path was strewn with litter and building materials. The view was completley destroyed by the HUGE power station that you couldn't fail to look at. As we came to the other side of Lamma and were greeted by even more dirty looking big dogs (I am a dog lover by the way but these dos were extremly intimidating) and a sewage smell. The restaurant owners were pushy and gave us incorrect ferry times saying we would be waiting at least an hour back to Hong Kong so to come and have a meal in his restaurant. We went to check the ferry timetable and this was not the case. I will not be visiting Lamma again and will tell friends it is not worth a visit unless they like power stations and dirty, smelly environement. Go to Shek O.
