Buddha was right: everything is related to everything else. This is because we can connect any two things using language, and if something were to have nothing to do with something else, this would be its relationship, meaning that the assumption, that there is a pair of things that have naught to do with each other, generates its own contradiction, therefore Buddha was right.

And this isn't some academic concern. In the 1960s, in America, a "practical" American would have laughed to scorn a Beatnik poet who put his spray can underarm deodorant, and the South Pole, in the same sentence: then, scientists discovered the relationship between the release of aerosol propellant and the ozone hole, especially over Antarctica.

Of course, in our personal and business lives most of the time, we savagely use an Xacto knife to "focus" with what we think is maturity on isolated problems, and the fact that for nearly all white-collar employees, a rectangle (the Web page) surrounds everything is a form of psychoanalysis in reverse, in which our subconscious mind learns that everything comes in a box.

Beethoven was an interesting quote, since in practice he was pretty cranky. Of course, I'd be a grouch too if I lost my hearing and I was a professional musician.
