Just watched the movie the other night. The movie helps to answer a lot of questions I have since the two previous episodes, but it also brings some new questions. Perhaps those people who has been enlightened can help to answer such questions:

1. How come Neo has the power to deter the machines? Is he not just a normal human with the special enlightenment (in buddist terms) being grown to improve the Matrix?

2. Why the machine needs to grow human being in the first place just to collect energy? Is human being not supposedly inefficient and absorbing rather than be releasing? Why not grow some veggies instead?

3. How does Smith gets to control the human in Xion, is Smith not just a program, or a virus to be specific?

I haven't seen Matrix III yet, but all the bad reviews won't stop me trying out the new Palace multiplex in the YSW Shopping Mall, eh, IFC II.

webdog, for some answers to your questions, have a look at these MSNBC movie pages:
http://www.msnbc.com/news/980353.asp

There are many answers to all the major questions raised in Matrix II, which obviously still haven't been answered yet in Matrix III. Unfortunately, many of the answers posted by Matrix fans are totally contradictory and raise even more new questions. But that is the inherent nature and strength of this mind-bending/-blowing/-freeing trilogy...

For detailed answers to Question #2, watch the two amazing "History of the Matrix" animes on the Animatrix DVD. I can lend it to you, if you like.

What's your opinion since most of the questions I have are related to Matrix Reloaded. You don't need to watch the Revolutions to answer them. Personally I think Matrix Revolutions is a great movie, nothing from Hollywood A movies even come close to it.

Allow me to attempt an answer to your questions Mr Webdog.

1. No, Neo is not a normal human. He is both part of the real world and part of the matrix, an anomoly created to reset the matrix programme. In this capacaity his matrix powers are transferred beyond the matrix. Imagine that he is always plugged in to the matrix to some extent even when the leads have been removed from his neck.

2. The sunlight was destroyed on earth by the humans in an attempt to stop the machines during the war. Vegetables couldn't grow under such circumstances and humans are easily reproduced. (See Animatrix)

3. Smith has the same powers as Neo as he is the other side of Neo's character. (See above 1) Consider them an equation, where one cancels the other out.
