After moving in to Lamma for almost 2 months, I finally got this chance to take a bunch of pictures and stitched them into a 360 panorama image of Yung Shue Wan this afternoon.

If you see a guy taking pictures with a big weird-shaped tripod, that's probably me!

Enjoy!

Sorry, I know that the pic is a little bit too big for those of you who surf with a small monitor, but hey, it's a panorama!

Great panorama!

It looks like something that should be at the top of this website's every page!

For a while now I've wanted to replace the computer graphics and photos in the page header but my own panoramas are not good enough yet as I can't afford the necessary tripod yet.

I'd like to use different panoramas on different pages, so if you've got any more, send them over, in large format to Lamma-Gung@Compunicate.com, please!

The middle of the ferry pier would be a great spot for a panorama, the end of the old jetty or some rooftop along the waterfront or up on a hill.

Could you also do a SUPERPANORAMA e.g. the same feature appearing on both the left and right of the photo? It could sell a lot of copies to Sunday tourists!

That should be no problem. But why would that be more popular than the usual 360-degree panoramas?

There are a few more 180-360-degree panorama shots from the ferry pier in this topic:

I was kinda busy and my preference is still 360....anyway, your wish is granded! Maybe I can print it on some paper towels (toilet roll anyone?) and sell it to the local resturants, bar and pubs!

The PowerPlantBay Pano is on its way.

Wow! More, more!

I haven't seen any Lamma "Quicktime Virtual Reality scenes" like this since I got some of them made for tourists about 8 years ago.
We shot several scenes on Lamma, including Hung Shing Yeh beach, with a Western-Asian couple of models for a "Virtual Tour of Lamma". Not sure if I still have got them saved somewhere.
It would be interesting how Lamma has changed in these 8 years, especially Main Street where we shot one or two of those VR panoramas as well.

Suggested locations for more panoramas and VR scenes:

Rooftop of Water Front Restaurant at night
Main Street, in front of the Deli
Main Street, in front of Green Cottage at sunset
Middle of ferry pier on a sunny day with white, fluffy clouds
Location of future permanent helipad
Rooftop of "Po Wah Yuen Palace" (360 degree view over Yung Shue Wan
Pavilion above Hung Shing Yeh beach (sweeping view of Power Station and Hung Shing Yeh beach and tourist route)
Trig Point (close and above the wind turbine, best view in North Lamma)

and, last but not least, a really adventurous spot for an amazing panorama:
The top of that big rock in the harbour in front of Man Fung Restaurant!

My panorama is a little bit to yours. I have a my camera with a 12mm wide lens mounted on a pano head tripod, which helps me to shoot 3 rolls of images which cover more or less the entire surroundings from the zenith to the ground without any distortions.

The time consuming part is the stitching, because I have to stitch all 36+ images into 1 huge panorama instead of a single-roll-ring-shaped pano. It usually take me 12 hours to stitch, touch-up and render. The more the moving elements in the picture, the more time it takes because I need to tell the programe what to show(and to hide). For example, a busy street is a way more difficult to stitch than a quiet-windless-lake.

These are the very similar panos I took last summer.

Anyway, the small fish village, Yung Shuet Wan Main Street and the wind turbine will be my next spot. I will let you guys know after I have them all done. Stay tune.
