Hi all

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-T1.
When shooting indoors with dim light, the pictures came out waaayyyyyy too dark with a yellowish tint. :(

Grateful if any of you experts out there could enlighten me on the subject.

Many thanks!

This type of pocket cameras has usually quite a few "Scene" modes. Try the "Twilight" or "Tw Portrait" (with Flash) scene modes on the T1. I have a new Sony T-500 with me at all times, as a backup or when my big, professional Nikon camera is just too heavy to take with me all the time. (I usually take around 1,000 photos every week and quite a few find their way into the Lamma-zine.)

The yellowish tint mainly comes from the wrong White Balance which is usually set automatically with these cameras, but it's getting it wrong sometimes. You can change the White Balance manually to indoors shots under different types of lighting: "Fluorescent" or "Incandescent" on the T1.

Also, software like Photoshop can partially remove yellowish and other tints afterwards easily by selecting "Auto Color". But it's much better to avoid them while taking the photos, of course.
