We're also running a Photo Contest for the best 3 photos of this year's Lamma 500. Win a mixed case of ThirstyHorse wines, an all-free website, a photo shoot or a free home page ad. Another very successful Lamma 500 has been completed on a fantastic day on Power Station Beach yesterday and lots of photographers were capturing the races. With only an 18-200mm lens myself I couldn't keep up with the pros on the beach with their extra-long 500 mm lenses on tripods capturing the finishing line of the dragonboats' 500 metre and 1 km races all day long. So I focused more on the sidelines, people having great fun in all kinds of ways... Email me your the files or website/blog/photo gallery/Facebook links to your best photos of the day till next Sunday, May 23 and win a full or half case of mixed fine wines, plus choose one of my prizes I've put up for this Lamma 500 Photo Contest, see Lamma-zine, May 14. |

Clock the sound of snoring as we view another round of gym bunnies wearing Lycra and plastic wigs. The carbon fiber paddles had me in fits of laughter - such a high tech sport |

Well, those gym bunnies wearing tight Lycra and colourful wigs on the beach are definitely a lot easier on the eye than some aging, balding expats in ancient, stained T-shirts hanging out in bars, myself included occasionally. Becoming a wannabe "gym bunny" myself, I have (so far) refrained from wearing Lycra and a wig, much to the relief of my friends. But the "Boracay Bumshells" dragon boat team from The Philippines definitely attracted the photographers (and local dragon boaters eager to pose with them) like a honeypot attracting flies.
