"To enable elderly people and eligible persons with disabilities to travel on the general Mass Transit Railway (MTR) lines, franchised buses and ferries at anytime at a concessionary fare of $2 per trip."

Yes, dear Elderly, it's really good news for you!

So after speeding downhill to the ferry pier on your mountainbike and a quick run to the gate, you'll have to slow down, take out a crutch and walk more like an elderly, otherwise the ferry staff might query your true age, looking way too fit to be called "elderly"!

An Alert Reader just sent me a photo of this ferry pier notice by HKKF. It says in English and Chinese that the ferry fare concession for 65+ has been suspended, every day including weekends. No info why or when it'll start again.

Anybody knows what happened or any other news since March? Is this poster incorrect?

I dread calling the HKKF "hotline" and their website hasn't been updated since Feb. The Govt. notices and leaflets (see above) say the concession is valid every day and doesn't mention any suspension:

According to my daughter, the Chinese doesn't say it's "suspended" or stopped, but that it will continue indefinitely.
I think it's just a bad translation.

HKKF would not be able to renege on it that without govt approval anyway.

That should be right. An extremely bad English translation. :wink:

That means that your daughter's Chinese is more accurate than Lamma-Por's who translated it for me! I'm hoping for a {*Big Blush!*} from her when I let her know!

But what does it mean "not applicable to the holiday return ticket"?
An eligible person can get the $2 fare also on holidays, making this remark also wrong?
