Latest FB update from a ferry passenger yesterday: "All home safe and sound. Ferry staff and rescue boat very professional. One engine failed after a reverse engine stop as a boat passed from right to left across our bow by the lighthouse." |

Robert Hope-Jones writes and sends videos via WhatsApp, live from the ferry this afternoon, Aug 2, 2013: "Lamma ferry stops for heavy rain. Never happened before, but with so much rain falling I am not surprised!" |

I have been on ferries in torrential rain, whereas you can see absolutely nothing outside. Visibility Zero. I find these journeys a tad scary. But isn't it more dangerous if you stop??? Lots of other vessels in the area, and the lack of engines would mean you bounce around like a cork on swollen, choppy seas? Is this the right thing to do? |
