Another major crash of the same ferry company, HKKF on the same YSW-Central route:
Sea Spirit, Thu, Sep 17, 6:50pm ferry from YSW to Central.
Fortunately, no injuries this time. HK Free Press story:

There seems to be an electical problem with one of the boats. A few times now all the lights have gone off in the cabin on one of the boats. This Tuhrsday the 20.00 service let passengers upstairs with no lighting on the top deck. Yes they did get it sorted once someone complained and most passengers did not go upstairs but it seems crazy to me they would let anyone up there in the dark. Just another example of them not caring / not understnading / no knowing about how to keep things safe and stop the company getting liable actino taken against them. I also find it comical that the boat staff wear flip flops and those dealing with ropes etc are not given life vests as they are with the other ferry companies. It is worth how those working for the company are placed at risk as well by the management. When comapring the two crashes it is a worry that both occured about the same time, at night and with clear visibilty and with a ferry using radar. The captain must have known it was there but decided to take a risk. Was also thinking is the captain / pilot still sailing or has he been suspended. From this are there going to be any criminal proceddings, at the very there should be an enquiry. Having said this the hours they do are crazy, how can anybody be expected to do type of job and keep things safe. I often see the ships crew looking exahausted and taking naps. As boat journey so short it is not really like being on a long distance vessel. If any human being does take a quick nap it can take upto 10 minutes for them to able to exericise proper judgement.
Perhaps we should also be figthing to make things better for them boat crew as well.
