Naughty laudable ex-Lamma luminary Keith ( I am a rude bastard so fuck off) Hassett posted some photos of the old days on Lamma on an earlier string, but sadly they seem to have disappeared. Could Keith kindly put them up again as I am sure many of us will recognise some of the middle aged farts appearing in them. Still no news of Chris 'opportunity' Knox. Maybe the long arm of the law caught up with him. While we are at it has anybody bumped into ex-Lamma artist Malcolm now residing in Manila, a pleasant chap with a vivacious ex-wife. Now what was her name. From Assam, northern India, if my memory serves me well. Ciao. |

Is he really residing in Manila these days or did he return to Lamma? Are you talking about long-white-haired Malcolm Golding, residing on Main Street these days, his ex-wife Ashim (running the new Fitness Centre) and their stunning, vivacious daughter. I can never memorise her Indian name, even though I've met her and her Muay Thai bfriend on the Varuna sailboat... Speaking of Manila and ex-Lamma artists, Mr DickStock has recently bumped into Dave Parker in Manila. Photo and story in the next Lamma-zine... out verrrrrry soon! |

Yes, you are right Gungy old sport, it was the ever-youthful Malcolm Golding I was referring to, who of course was once a sidekick of ex-financier Chris Knox in the defunct Waterfront Bar before the usual Knox disagreements and unpleasantness set in. In fact the Waterfront Bar in its earliest days (1984-85) was a very lively watering hole with what seemed to be a party going on nearly every night when Golding and his gregarious ex-wife Ashim were partners in the bar. There was always an argument, romance or business deal struck in there. It actually went down hill when they left and the dead hand of Knox took control. The one thing Chris could not get in his head round was that he is not a very interesting person, and that making a few shillings did not qualify for the Lamma Hall of Fame. Being a media man myself, one trait I have noticed among press types in Hong Kong over the years is that death from drowning is not uncommon. I can think of three who perished from misadventures in the South China Sea. Ben Jordan's was the only intended one, the others were due to an inability to stay afloat as a result of excessive drinking. |
