Latest bar & restaurant news: The Lamma Space, besides the former Diesel's, Joyce's new venture, has been open for a little while now, offering Western takeaway lunch and dinners. Separate story and pictures coming up soon... Lamma Grill is NOT going to move into the center of the village, just below Love's Dance Studio. They've been looking for another place to move to. More news tba. Toni the Coffee Guy in Tai Yuen New Village, only open on Sunday mornings before, might be moving to the front of Prime Bar & Grill, offering his gourmet coffee all week. Prime will also be opening earlier, offering breakfasts on some week days. After the great success of the first Comedy Night in Prime, another one will be happening soon, probably in April. It'll be outdoors and include an open mike session for new Lamma talents. The "Twilight Fish Market" outside The Waterfront is getting a curvy roof soon, under construction since Lunar New Year. Ah-Ying (Doris) outside Andy's Seafood might move her fruit/veggies/assorted goods stall there as well. Any more news I might have missed? |

Toni sells his coffee every morning, not just on Sundays. Apparently Doris is now taking the space under Love Studios. Once the fish market space has its fancy new roof will its opening hours be more user friendly? |

One more bar in YSW has just opened! Seaside terrace and wine bar, great feedback so far! 3 built-in Internet screens, available for private parties (we had the dog poisoning meeting in there 2 months or so ago). Have a look, just after the Just Green shop (which has a similar seaside terrace for self-serve wine, beer & drinks)

Poster from the "Democracy Fence" (opposite the former "Democracy Wall"). This place inside a G/F shop up in Tai Yuen Village on the way to Hung Shing Yeh beach has obviously been open since before Lunar New Year, but I hadn't notice it as it's far away from YSW Village. Show them this photo below on your smartphone and get $1 discount. Nice idea! More local restaurants should try this type of promotion. But maybe a more attractive discount and a QR code linking to their location map, Facebook page or website?

The end of another era, with the last ever final appearance (probably) of Transnoodle, supported by Brain Damage with a hint of Nude. Tonight at the Island Bar, Lamma Island, 8pm until the Island's finest come calling. Thanks everyone, especially John for his keen eye for a riff and iconic lyrics, and Saekifying the odd song or two from the rest of us. The music will live on! June 2009. Our eponymous song, "Transnoodle," recorded for the Underground Hong Kong II compilation. This song is kinda not the story of how the band came into being. Transnoodle is the nickname of a Sichuan restaurant in Lamma Island, Hong Kong that's actually called Lung Kong. Pizza Milano's Danny, Jenne and the 3 kids (20, 16, 13) will be emigrating to East Canada, not far from Montreal. Danny's semi-retiring after his recent successful cancer surgeries. Wishing our friends all the very best for their future life! They promised to keep us up-to-date via their Facebook pages. After 20 years living in Canada long ago, Danny might return to Lamma someday, perhaps. Let's celebrate another end of a Lamma era, as Pizza Milano has been part of YSW for so long, way before we arrived here more than a dozen years ago.... |

What's going on over Easter in Lamma's restaurants? It's unusually quiet these days, even though there might be new record visitor arrivals on the ferries, a "Perfect Storm" with Easter Sunday, Lamma Day with dragonboat/sampan races and Canto Opera by a new-for-Lamma opera troupe on a probably sunny and warm Sunday with holidays before and after the day. Concerto Inn Easter promotions From Prime Bar & Grill: "Chef Kris is brining the Beef Brisket today and cooking it tomorrow. Give me a suggestion on how you want to see it cooked and plated and if I choose yours - YOU CAN HAVE ONE FREE!" It's at Prime Bar & Grill. 47 Main Street, YSW Come in the bar across from the old Diesel's on Main Street. Walk thru the bar and then out the back thru the kitchen and you will find this patio, and two more also. |

What's happening on Mother's Day, May 11, in Lamma's restaurants? First one to send their promotions, Concerto Inn: Trying their children's menu recently (after them sniggering about me being eager to try it), I actually enjoyed this a lot. It's actually OK value for money, including drink and ice cream for below $100, all inside a kids-friendly Space Shuttle! I wonder if they've got a dish especially for girls?

News from 7th Avenue: "GOOD MORNING EVERYONE. THIS JUST IN FROM OUR FRIENDS AT M.A.D Events.... We have been extremely busy the past 2 weeks but we're happy to say that we've got some great events coming up! We're starting off with a summer themed paint party next Saturday 24th May. We are bringing the first and of course the only "MAD Paint Party" to Yung Shue Wan, Lamma Island at 7th Avenue Bar and Restaurant. Like we said before, with their spacious outdoor space, it will be a great night for everyone to get together, splash some paint (get into a paint fight?), drink some jungle juice, play some beer pong and get your jiggle on with the unique BOTTOM DWELLERS playing their funky music live. We're aiming for a 8:30pm start but it's a 'everyone is welcome at any time type of event'. The party will go on until late We're looking forward to seeing you there! Team 7venth"
