The best coffee was sold by "Coffee James" from a mobile outlet on the ferry pier but that was in 1959.

I think the tastiest coffee on Lamma is that which passes through the digestive tract of a local pet and is harvested from eggs collected from the footpath.

We had an Easter Dog's Egg Hunt. We all hand-decorated some fresh dog's eggs with lollypop sticks and small bits of gravel and then placed them discreetly on Tai Peng path for the kids to find with their shoes.

Regular coffee is for novices only. Us true coffee connoisseurs have upgraded our refined tastes ages ago to more exotic coffee flavours and varietals.

Not having tried the "Lamma Luwak" coffee mentioned above myself yet, I'm quite partial to the Tropicana's Mochaccino, extra tall, double shot, regular milk, Equal sweetener and a dusting of cinnamon...

Hmmmmm, best coffee on Lamma, me thinks! :jump:

Eamonn McCormick used to serve the best Birminghamish Coffee, which was similar to Irish Coffee but made with plastic.

Dear Lily,

Are you related to Graeme Garden of 'Goodies' fame?

By the way, your coffee always makes me want to use the facilities.

Best coffee on Lamma?

There's some tough competition out there and a coffee connoisseur like myself is spoilt for choices. Some of the best ones - besides my current favourite Mochaccino in Tropicana and mojo's special brew - can be found in unexpected places: B&B and New Holiday Mood.

But nothing beats the very very best coffee on Lamma, IMHO: at my home!
I've tried a number of coffee beans available in local shops and nothing was good & affordable enough for my daily home brew. So I have to import it from HK Island and brew it myself, see below:

"Full bodied and silky smooth, a combination of chocolaty Arabian Mocha coffee with beans from the lushy forested mountains of Java. Inhale the tangy aroma."
Enjoying a big mug right now. Aaaaaaaahhhh! :coffee:

Thanks Lily,

I am now clear on everything.

When you wrote the 'funky gibbon' were you high on coffee then?

The local coffee wars are heating up.
New entrant Village Bakery will start offering fresh brewskis at $10/15 from tomorrow, 6-10am only. Directly sourced from a farm in South America where the Bakery proprietor knows the farmers personally...

And, to my sheer horror and utter dismay, i've discovered that the Green Cottage has run out of organic coffee for their Organic Soya-ccinos.
Not that I've tried this exotic brew ever before, but while trying to do some research today for an upcoming blog story on Lamma's growingly sophisticated coffee scene (at least for a Chinese fishing village!) I was thwarted by the unavailability of this fancy concoction with probably the fanciest name I've found so far in the vibrant local coffee subculture...

I had to console myself with a plain Ginger Mocha instead, pretty fancy & expensive at $22 for a medium cup, especially as compared to their famous GIGANTIC, HUMONGOUS, XXXL cup of Latte, by far the largest cup on the island available in a public establishment! And it lasts longer than reading an entire SCMP, I can attest!

I might have to test their French Press and Chococcino brews next time, purely for research purposes, of course...

Has anybody else been trying to find the best local coffee?
