Anybody know what it is? I'm afraid my expertise on snakes is limited to flipping through the book on "Hong Kong amphibians and reptiles."

My starter for 10 - a young Burmese python?

That was my first thought too, Then to scare myself I decided it was an unusual mountain pit viper.
It is in fact a Cat snake (boiga multomaculata), page 108

A new friend for your cats? How do they react to Cat Snakes?

By the way, this picture is home page-worthy. Where did you take it?

Wonderful head.

Only "mildly venomous" so relax! The distinctive "arrow head" marking on the head shows really well in this shot. Is this the answer to all those mystery cat disappearence cold cases? Those callous beady eyes look a bit intense for my liking.

It's the beautiful feline(ish) markings
They eat lizards and things like that.
This one was almost a foot long ... not much of a risk to cats.

Thoughtful and assessing eyes.
