Ah Choi’s Saturday afternoon workshops ($100 per head)

On March 3 Ah Choi continues his monthly gardening workshops with a session on ferns. A few places remain for what is sure to be a popular topic –from casual comment , I gather that I am not the only person who could be classified as a serial fern killer.

On April 14 he will tell us about the exquisitely beautiful world of flowering gingers.

On May 5 Hoyas will be the focus of attention.

Places are limited, so please sign up early for these fascinating and enlightening sessions. Dates and topics will be announced shortly to take us through to the end of 2012.

February 25 Kayo Palkhiwalla will conduct one of his popular Orchid Clinics on Lamma

Off-islanders are welcome to attend and bring along ailing orchids for diagnosis. There’s no charge, but participants will all be expected to chip in to cover the cost of Kayo’s materials. Prior registration is essential or you might find yourself without a seat. Details of timing and location after registration.

Leap Year’s day Nursery Trawl and Champagne tea party chez Jason Wordie

This has turned out to be a very popular event and only a few places are still available.

Chiang Mai Beckons -- March 4-8

I have only just learned that the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2011 is running in Chiang Mai. This International Horticultural Exposition is being staged in the spectacular park that was created in 2006 to celebrate the 80th birthday of the Thai King. It is a must-see in a town that is not exactly short of plant/flower attractions. I am currently pulling together details of accommodation and transport, plus itinerary and I hope to have a price for this trip very soon. This will be for a small number of participants, so please let me know asap if you are interested.

Sri Lanka -- March 14-23

The historic fortress city of Galle, a working Cinnamon plantation in the nearby Mirissa hills and a lakeside hotel in Colombo will be our bases for exploration of diverse attractions including whale and bird watching, local market and culinary secrets, plantation and garden hopping during a visit to Sri Lanka, from March 14-23. Final details including costs are still being finalised. This trip will be for a small group, so please let me know asap if you would like further information.
