It's just been identified... it's just a leaf!

Chasing butterflies at night now, at 3:30 am? It's getting cooler at night, so the butterflies will be much less fluttery, easy prey for your camera!

The sunny weather brought out a few butterflies yesterday...

Now the weather is getting slightly warmer a few Butterflies are reappearing................
This particular one is the Common Faun (Faunis eumeus), generally seen in woodland or low-light areas.

Identification courtesy of Paul Lau (Butterflies of Hong Kong p242)

Yes, a quite common specimen frequently seen around Lamma.

I'd suggest to ask the author of the authoritative HK Butterflies book directly by emailing him the photo or inviting him into this forum.
Zep's got his contact, as he's agreed to do a little story about Paul, his book and his private butterfly farm.

Zep's story & photos about Paul Lau's book and butterfly farm are online now!
Lamma-zine Blog at Lamma.com.hk, April 8.

Many thanks for a really great Lamma-zine contribution to both of them!

Found this chap on my rooftop.
Under normal bulb light it just looked a very dark grey color with some slight colouration - when exposed to flash came out as you see it here.
