Macroglossum sp. Not a humming bird as some people believe, but a hawk moth.

'So far 19 species of hummingbird hawk moth have been recorded in Hong Kong...'

Thanks. I am glad I was right pasting these photos in “bugs” section of the Forum rather than “birds”.
What amazes me is the frequency/speed of flapping the wings! The shutter speed was surely much less than 1/1000 of a second (Aperture Priority mode) and you still can’t see the wings clear! I regret I did not record the exact shutter speed being busy chasing the bug. What kind of biological motor is this?!

The other amazing thing is the technology of the cameras. On the link from you the wings are captured without any blur!

Many thanks to Rambler in assisting me with my own bug shots yesterday in Tai Peng, by holding the leaf for me in very windy conditions.

Shot with my mobile, so far from the quality we're usually getting from Rambler.

Nice, clean, well-manicured fingernails, by the way!

Still one medium-size Huntsman spider left in my now almost empty former Rooftop Jungle turning into a tiled desert. It was having Sunday morning brunch on a little cockroach this morning. Awww, so cute!

But why do all the spiders on my rooftop have legs missing? Is there something even more scary living up there hunting spiders and enjoying their legs as snacks?

But should I move my remaining pet spider to my future L-G's Balcony Jungle?

Scariest photo of the day, from Herboland:
House Centipede, Scutigera Coleoptrata.

Do not imitate, even though these shaggy-legged guys are less dangerous than the other feared centipedes, even though these can be bigger and longer, they are still poisonous and eat insect and spiders.

More info about these arthropods from our forum, 10 years ago:
Centipede? Cockcroach? Freak Of Nature??

I know I am just adding to the gazillion of dragonflies picks on Internet. This one is Lammaitta (Pakkokianitta), and not bad picture - reveals some details of the engine.

Centipede inside a Pak Kok flat. Body about 2 inches long, with feelers and legs much longer, extending far beyond the picture.
Graham writes:

"They really are spectacular. It was running about so it was hard to get a good "pose".
We don't see many of this type, they must be shy and not go into houses so much; we see more of the other nasty long-bodied short-legs cousin. I don't like killing any of them, I get a box and tip them out!"
