The yellow flower looks like a Zornia. Here's one from Australia. I think the one around Hong Kong is Z. diphylla, otherwise known as Z. reticulata, but like so many plants here it is not native, and comes from Central America. It is a kind of pea or Papillionaceae.

Not entirely convinced coz the leafing is different.
Various descriptions refer to the the Zornia ... as being grasslike.
The general habitat seems about right as it is along the road by
Power Station Road on sandy ground.
I will look further.

Nonetheless must be worth 10 points towards the bottle of wine
(to be added to the other 10 for Centrotus cornutus)

Also looks a lot like the Meadow Vetchling (Lathyrus pratensis), but still having trouble with the leaves.

Frangipani after the rainstorm today.
All the flowers on the tree were yellow & white with the exception of this one.

Greetings
That yellow flower(photo of 4th Feb) looks like the winter flowering plant(shrub)Crotalaria Retusa(Papilionaceae),known as the "Rattlebox" .The ripened pod contains seeds which rattle on shaking.I believe it is native to HK.

Peace
:D

Haven't heard from Victor for a while so can assume it's reasonably safe to post plant pics again.
One from a tree by the Refuse Plant.......

Beautiful shots, Guy!

Here's a flower with a bee in mid-flight. It was submitted by Lammaite Vicky yesterday. She'll have her first photography exhibition at the beginning of June:

Photo exhibition announcement coming up in the blog, her poster isn't ready yet, so I don't have the details myself yet.

I've almost finished her Lamma nature photo gallery for this site (including several more flowers), to go along with the HK exhibition announcement.
Plus the 2nd Photo of the Day by Vicky today, from her Lamma B/W series...

Almost perfect flower picture! Black background to make the details and especially the stamen stand out so well.

I assume you don't mind if I pluck this one as the Photo of the Day today, as it doesn't fit into your Animal of the Day spot?

It's a Caesalpinia pulcherrima - also known as Bird of Paradise, Pride of Barbados, etc.

The noxious prickly weed growing down at Sok Kwu Wan is the evil relative - another species of Caesalpinia.
