Can we get a full account of the six species of amphibians found on Lamma? I am finally able to process sound files recorded on my digital sound recorder after problems finding a version of Sonicstage compatible with Vista, so maybe we can get the sounds as well as the pictures.

To get the ball rolling - what is this species? Can something so tiny save the Yung Shue Long valley?

Alan, I can't hear anything on the first link and the second one just says "video is loading" for ever.

I use a lot of different audio and video formats and have codecs loaded to play pretty much every type of format I download on BT, so I'm a bit perplexed about this :?

So is it the same???

[edit] OK, posting the first link into IE works. I use Firefox normally :(

sound the same, so I'm 100% sure that little bugger was in the lilly pond last week!!!!

Ah, really nice Geoff. Both Alan's and Geoff's calls are those of Romer's tree frog. The deeper the pitch, the larger and theoretically the older the frog. I suspect they don't live more than 3 years, so Geoff's is probably a first-time breeder ( a young guy) and Alan's is older. Female frogs key in on the deeper pitch to get the "fittest" male. I now have decent pictures of all the frogs on Lamma and hope to get them up here soon. Am thinking about finally getting a website like PBase, so I don't have to reduce the resolution. Any other suggestions besides PBase?

Here is a male Romer's tree frog belting it out in Tai Peng last week. At about 2 cm in size it is amazing the amount of sound they produce.

Sorry, I can't increase the attachment size for a single forum member, so I've just increased it for EVERYBODY to 200KB and up to 5 attachments per post.

Let's see how it's going and if there are no abuses we should have enough server space for the next few years.

Zep, please post the sounds again in 16kHZ.

For individual, big attachments, any file type including sounds, images, videos,...just email them to me and I can upload them individually here. The files will stay online for at least as long as these forums will survive.
And there's always the separate Lamma-zine server with an extra 5GB of online space which we can use...
