I was washing some dishes in the kitchen when I saw a very long snake on the door of my storage shed outside.

The snake is about 2.5 - 3 meters long, yellowish green in color with what looks like dark brown/ black dots/ stripes across it's back. I didn't get a very good look at its head but the body is not very big ... maybe no larger than a 5-dollars coin in diameter.

It explored at my shed door and the gasolin tank for a few minutes, then it slid into the shed through the holes on the door. (The wood structure has eroded away in the sun and rain of lamma).

I took a stick and a pillow case, hoping to capture and release the guy somewhere else, as my dogs like to run into that shed sometimes and I don't want their curiosity to get them in troubles. But when I opened the door, the snake slid behind my backpacks and other gears.

The lamp is broken in the shed, so it's pretty dark in there. I am thinking it's probably too dangerous to move the gears in the dark in order to locate the snake... any idea what to do? I don't want to wait until the sun is down, because then it would be pitch black inside and I really won't be able to see the snake at all.

Thanks,

you could call the local police but they will kill the snake when they find it

Thanks, but I would rather let the fellow live. I will just keep my dogs indoor for now.

It sounds similar to one I saw near the stream at Tannery Bay yesterday. That snake was about 2 metres long and quite thick-bodied. I've never seen one like it before.

Any ideas of the species, anyone?

there are not many native snakes that can be long as 2.5 meters.

Burmese python gets to 6 meters, but a 3-meter one won't be as thin as a 5-dollor coin.

A couple species of ratsnakes are long and slender. They also have the coloration and pattern you mentioned. But they rarely reach more than 1.9 meters.

The remaining possibility is.... the King Cobra.
but honestly it is not common and I ain't sure if it really exists on lamma
