Can somebody identify this snake?

"Dr Marcus" almost stepped on it on Sunday close to Mt Stenhouse. He thought it looked like a python. Correct?

If not, what snake is it?

Nice find as long as you don't find it coiled around your neck trying to suffocate you.

When I was a kid in HK, in the late 70s, early 80s, there was a story about an 18 ft python on Lantau that was discovered to have swallowed a 6 ft tall man. Did any of you hear that (back in the day), and was there any truth to the rumour? (The "rumour" was told to me by my mother. If I remember correctly, I believe she read about it in the SCMP.)

Dogs, pigs. Not people. But here's some pictures you can show your mother:

In the pic that's a burmese python.

I ain't sure if it's true about the news you mentioned happened in lantau. But I am sure adult burmese pythons are able to kill an adult man. Not in HK, the same species of pythons have killed people for times. One of those was that a medium-sized burmese at only 8 feet long killed a 5.5 feet american young man. that made quite much noise in the america at that time.

Some other pythons did eat men.
