Despite my previous doubts I've become a confirmed mosquito net addict, especially given the epidemic we're having at the mo (anything to do with soggy sewage ditches all over the place?). Anyways, we've been using a bog-standard 'large' net I bought at the China products store in Mongkok, which is OK but not big enough - too much contact with the sides of the bed, which means the net often rides up during the night and the bastards sometimes get in. I'd like to buy a top-of-the-line jobbie - as big as they come with walls that fall down to the floor and clear of the bed, preferably with zips down each side as the usual flap-entrance thingies are crap. Anyone know where to buy a five-star mozzie net? |

Marc Antony {L_WROTE}: too much contact with the sides of the bed
You can pinch pieces of netting halfway up and loop some cord around them, and tie that to some furniture/hooks*/whatever to pull the net away from the bed. * Get some little screw in hooks (less than $1 each) and screw into strategic window/door frames, wardrobes, etc for mounting points. |

Tks Alan, but I've already done this using clothes pegs and string as guy lines. The problem is that this net is simply not quite big enough - and any more lines and it'll become impossible to navigate around the bedroom. I might simply go back to the China products store and get the larger 'square-shaped' variety, which I imagine will be an improvement, but still interested to hear if anyone can suggest a better brand. I know IKEA sell them but have been warned that their's are smaller. |

The single point bell type are easy to put up, but the square ones are better for long term use. You can just flip the walls up in the daytime. And there's the dome tent style, as here: http://www.lamma.com.hk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6566 May not be tall enough for a bed frame though. But rather than spend a few hundred dollars for Ikea, better I think to invest in window screens. I made a simple wooden frame, put a couple of screws in the existing frame so I could lift it on and off. |
