Can anyone help with a bit of info?
This little bird has popped up on my balcony several times in the last couple of days. It seems relatively unafraid of people - it lets you get within a few feet and will sit happily and watch you.
Apologies if this is a blindingly obvious question - from a bit of googling I'm wondering if it's a love bird. Is it? If not, what is it?
Also wondering if it's a domesticated bird that's escaped and isn't able to fend for itself, and that's why it's hanging around the balcony.

Thanks

Yes, it is a love bird, a kind of small parrot. They often sit in pairs all snuggled up together hence the name. This one, though is a long, long way from home - they are natives of Africa, so it is obviously an escaped cage bird. There used to be a pair around Granny Chan's hill a few years ago, and I saw one in Pak Kok a couple of years ago too. Because they are quite tame, they are likely to be either taken in as pets, of fall victims to predators.

Thanks for the super quick reply. We are in Pak Kok - any chance it could be the same one you saw?

So, if it is an escaped cage bird, does that mean it can't fend for itself? Would feeding be appropriate, and if so what's it likely to eat.
