Post subject:  Ticks on Lamma

After spending much of the day weeding in Tai Peng Community Garden, I found a tick walking around in my bathroom last night. It is about 3 mm long and brown with a light orangish-brown spot on the underside of its abdomen. Hong Kong Dog Rescue's website reports that ticks are common in Hong Kong ("Rhipicephalus sanguineus, more commonly referred to as the Brown Dog Tick"), but for all of my hiking, which is often off-trail, and gardening this is the first tick I have seen. Has anyone else encountered them on Lamma before? Maybe if I had a dog I would have seen one sooner.
