I have been live in Yung Shu Long for over 30 years, it is my first time to see a crab walk across my house.

Very unusual shot, indeed! Congrats!

Well worthy of becoming Lamma Wildlife Photo of the Day soon!

Hi
This looks like a fresh water crab and is not a crab that is found in coastal areas. Not unusual in this case given the kind of crab that it is. There are a couple of species in Hong Kong and they're generally found in higher elevations near streams and damp woodland. I have seen many around the Peak on Hong Kong Island and some of the hills in the NT and I am glad to see that they can be found on Lamma too. The body of these crabs is kinda more square than a sea crab and I don't think they don't have any paddle appendages for swimming, but have sharper "grippier" legs presumably for climbing around and hanging onto rocks in fast flowing streams. They are usually a red colour. I think they're well cool and I am always happy when i meet one in the hills.
