Yes, the gardening season is back again, and one or two intrepid weeders have been at work clearing the mass of vegetation that ran rampant over summer. Today was supposed to be another major clearing effort, but of course the weather stopped that. Anyway, come and check us out when the weather improves, especially on a Sunday, when there is usually most activity, and often a pot-luck lunch.

We seem to have adopted a pet cattle egret. The bird walks around in the garden and tolerates approach to 3 or 4 metres if one moves slowly and quietly. It has been around for about a week and seems to be unable to fly. Since these birds are seasonal migrants, that raises the question of how it got here (walked from Philippines?).

We visited Tai Peng Community Garden yesterday, and were impressed.

It was good to see so many distinctive plots (we especially admired Tye's turnip) cultivated by different gardeners. We could see how much work had gone in to clearing the site.
We were flabbergasted by the ingenuity of the irrigation proposals, especially the bike-powered system!
Thanks to those who were there for taking time out to show us around and to explain things to us.

The garden is looking pretty good at the moment, with a good show of Hippeastrum lilies along the entrance path.
