This land of love and peace has over the last few days been awash with loud bangs and flashing lights at night .

I hear that these retiring, mysterious people continue to worship the moon. Perhaps it was a new moon that night, Eileen? This might explain the strange lights and noises, as the villagers would have procured whizz-bangs and spanglepoops from the factories and go-downs of distant Guangdong. I dare say a few gallon jars of fermented whortleberry juice would have been religiously slurped around the meeting-tree, and the men folk given a torrid time by the lively, drink-fuelled wimmin. Glad I wasn't in the area that night!
