What's been the impact of the smoking ban on Yung Shue Wan's bars and restaurants?
Some bars got a delay of the ban approved, like The Island Bar, but most of them seem to be mostly smoke-free these days. Great news for non-smokers!

Have the bars suffered from the smoking ban? In the opposite, one bar owner told me that his business has actually improved since he's banned the few most sturbborn smokers who smoked more than they drank. He simply evicted them from his bar with a clear "Fuck off if you want to smoke in here!" (his words, not mine) and business has prospered ever since, attracting new bar patrons with his clear non-smoking policy, even though he's a smoker himself.

Yung Shue Wan is a smoke free zone free zone

Even my dog smokes in The Deadly Animal. Especially while I'm at home dropping smack and shooting up acid, Geno.

I'm curious about this... am hanging out in Lamma for the first time and cannot believe how many people smoke here, in the streets, the bars, etc. I feel I can't get away from cigarette smoke without going halfway up the mountain (where I see cigarette butts thoughtlessly littered on the trail)

As a non-smoker whose career relies on lung power (I'm a brass musician), it really saddens me since I was thinking about moving out here... ironically for fresh air... do the residents here not care that they are sullying the otherwise fantastic sea breeze?

Anyway... I wonder what's going on and why I see people smoking in, say, the Deli Lamma, every time I go in there. It seems quite sanctioned since they're passing out ash trays. Can't seem to get a peaceful non stinky meal at that place (tried breakfast and dinner).

The Deli Lamma is disgusting in this regard, you can't even walk through the door without escaping the curtain of smoke of the smokers on the outside table. Shows how bad inside must be. I keep wondering if the police doesn't check on this blatant disregard of the anti-smoking laws. I also wonder if the owners of the Deli Lamma do not care about the quality of their food, if they don't even care about the smoking laws.

I'm sure they care about the quality of the food -- in fact I really love their offerings. I just don't think I will ever eat on premises again until they start observing the smoking ban. I dunno... or maybe I should boycott them to show that I think their smoking tolerance/encouragement is horrifying Money talks.

I don't know, fractal. But I think there are more smokers than brass instrument players on Lamma.

I keep wondering if the police doesn't check on this blatant disregard of the anti-smoking laws.

It has nothing to do with the police, it's the remit of the tobacco control office; if they don't get a complaint, they can't act.

But I don't go to the Deli any more - too many ghosts
