As part 2 of my mountaing climbing adventure, I was at the Shan Tei Tong pavilion again yesterday ( August 24, 2008 ). Just when I was looking everywhere to find the roads toward Mt Stenhouse, it started to rain!

I was lucky to be inside the Pavilion when the rain poured. I can see the mountains slowly being covered by fogs. It was such a beautiful scene and a different kind of experience.

Because of the rain, the rough roads became mud roads. So I decided to visit Mr. Stenhouse some other time.

Nice pictures - it's quite a special atmosphere in the rain and mist, even if it does make the paths slippery. I guess "Mr Stenhouse" can wait ; )

Thanks Lamma-Gung for putting my photos in Lamma-zine. =)

But it will be more accurate to change the "her" to "his".

Thanks!

Charlie,
Did you ever make it to the top of Mount Stenhouse, after your first attempt a few months ago when I published your very nice, misty photos?

Hi Lamma-Gung,

Unfortunately, I was not able to reach the top of Mt. Stenhouse.

Reason 1: I have tried a few times to find the roads but invain.

Reason 2: Once I tried to force my way through those bushes and I heard something which I guess was from a rattlesnake. I have never seen a real rattlesnake before, I just though it was a rattlesnake. That's why I went back to the pavilion.

Reason 3: I am still looking for a map that can show me clearly the path.

Reason 4: I still have not completely overcome my fear of height.

Rattlesnakes are only found in the Americas.

charlie {L_WROTE}:
I am still looking for a map that can show me clearly the path.
Take the concrete pathway from Sok Kwu wan to Tung O.
When you're about half way, you'll have Ling Kok Shan on your left (north) and Mt Stenhouse on your right (south). There is no single path to the peak, but a lot of rough, steep tracks. Just keep heading up and you can't get lost. A walking stick may be useful to keep your balance.

Sounds like mountain climbing instead of hiking to go up Mt. Stenhouse.
I think I am not ready to go up there.

Thank you all for the information.
