The shortest notice for a major Lamma event I've received so far, OCC races tomorrow, paddling all round Lamma, starting at 9:30am and 12:30pm from (and finishing at) Power Station beach, taking at least around 2.5 hours each race.
From Gina Meana:
ROUND LAMMA RACE TO BE HUGE!
Loveliest Lamma Paddlers,
Just a brief head’s up to let you all know that the Round Lamma Race 2011 looks like it will wipe all other races off the map!
So far, we have:
10-11 men’s OC6 entries
7 women’s OC6 entires
3-4 Mixed OC6 entries
2 Offshore rowing entries
And an unknown number of ski/OC1/kayak paddle entries (they are not so good on the confirmations!). In any case, we are looking at approximately 140 paddlers on the day, with 60-66 in the men’s category alone!
The first race will start at about 9am. The second race, with about 15 OC6 canoes on the water, will be at around 12:30. Both races should be great – Surfskis and OC1s (singles boats) will also be in the morning races.
We would love lots of photos. Part of the reason our adverts suck is that we haven’t really had many photos in recent years and I hate recycling old photos.
With so many bodies, we are expecting many mouths to feed – so do not scrimp on the salad fixings, etc!
We plan to have lights and music, and if we are very lucky, the weather will hold with the “mainly fine” standard the HKO is currently promising.
This is the best attendance we’ve had at this event, and it promises to be an amazing site! Singles are running with the women’s crews in the morning; mixed and men in the afternoon. Imagine 14 OC6’s burning towards the beach at the end of the day! Bring cameras and prepare for the best race in HKG.
Xx
Gina
