Very sad dog s still getting killed

Anyone else hear anything about these dog poisoning cases?

1. Dog shit on almost every path on the island.

2. Unleashed dogs roaming the streets every day.

3. Packs of dogs in restaurants.

4. Stray dogs on most footpaths.

5. Upturned rubbish bins on every corner.

6. Dog shit on almost every path on the island!

Yeah go figure Geno! Poisoning dogs must be the answer to punish the few idiots that let their dogs shit everywhere.

If you had taken the time to visit the FB page you would see people are discussing ways to prevent the things you list happening.

I would like to add one more reason

7. Owners who leave their constantly barking dogs alone for hours on the rooftop or balcony.

There is a dog in Yung Shue Long Old Village that is being left alone on the roof or balcony for a really long time. It barks constantly.
I can hear it on the other side of the valley. It has been barking and howling since around 12 and now it 3pm.

I think this might be another reason why a frustrated neighbour might consider poisoning dogs.

To be honest I don't care too much about the dog shit on the paths. I can walk around it.

There is not much one can do about a barking dog. The police will not do anything about it, even at night. The owners usually don't give a shit, since they are not even at home when the dog is barking.
So what should you do? Either move and hope there are no barking dogs in your neighbourhood or maybe leave some poison out and hope the dog that has been barking will eat it.

I think that is what happened to the Beagle a year ago that was living in Yung Shue Long Old Village just before the steps to the fire station. It was barking a lot as well.

I agree barking dogs are annoying - there is one tied up outside near us and it barks all day and sometimes at night if people walk past but villages in the NT and outlying islands are renowned for having barking dogs so if people dont like it why dont they move? Killing animals is not exactly the answer to any of the problems caused by lazy or neglectful dog owners contrary to what the last two posters seem to imply.

Perhaps we should concentrate on catching the criminal who is killing animals rather than complain about dog shit and barking dogs as annoying as they both are.

Of course that would the best, but I think it might be impossible.
On Bowen Road someone has been poisoning dogs for 20 years now and has never been caught.

Why not take a holistic approach and tackle the whole thing? Difficult problems never have easy answers.

Poison the owner.

Only problem with that is that the dog might also be affected by the poison - we wouldn't want any innocent victims, would we?

I think the dogs are. If a child lives what they see and are taught, then so do dogs. They are the responsibility of the owners, a part of the family even. Whether it's irresponsible owners, neglect, poor training (or anything else), the responsibility lies with the owner.

It should be noted that the vast majority of dogs seen wandering the streets, sitting in restaurants etc etc are absolutely lovely and friendly. They provide part of the peaceful village or island life feel, that is a common reason for why people choose to live on Lamma.

I hesitated to refer to you as an idiot, but it seems I was correct.

A Cat doing it on concrete? Are you seriously posing that, or genuinely being an idiot. The latter I suspect. Clearly you know nothing about cats and their nature, or animals in general it seems.

Do yourself the simple service of not looking any more like a t*** and withhold from any uninformed responding. An uninformed response would only confirm that you are, as has been suspected all along, an idiot.
