Yes, there's room for up to 100 new Village Houses just off Power Station beach over the next number of years. That's why they cut down the mature forest and blocked off the former forest path short cut to the beach.
It's already zoned for housing but owned by quite a number of people, so it'll take time to get the permissions, financing and building, probably resulting in another unplanned, quite chaotic warren of houses, like the neighbouring villages like Wang Long and Sha Po.
HK Electric just replied to my enquiry about these cable works:
"We are carrying out network enhancement work outside East gate of Lamma Power Station in phases with 600 meters of cables to be laid. We have just completed the first section of cable laying work (of around 100 meters of communication and high voltage cable) and will arrange to have the cable drums removed within next week, to be followed by site reinstatement of the relevant section. Four other sections of work are being planned and will take about six months to complete."
