I think a new thread should be spun off her along the lines of "Appalling medical services on Lamma".
I split it off, but you could have done that yourself

It never ceases to amaze me that there is still no full-time doctor on this island and that no consideration was given in the reclamation for a brand-new clinic with modern equipment. On average it seems like 3-4 helicopters fly in and out every week and the cost of that would easily pay for a full-time doctor. Discuss.
We don't really need a new clinic. We need a doctor.
They can upgrade the equipment without building a new clinic if necessary. But emergency care doesn't need high tech. And it doesn't matter how nice and shiny the gear is, if there isn't anyone there qualified to use it.
The problem is the government loves to spend money on capital expenditure, i.e. concrete, but not on staff or maintenance. And the Hospitals Authority has rigid rules designed for urban Hong Kong and don't care that people outside urban areas have died because they couldn't be got to a doctor in time. They don't care how much the helicopters cost because it comes from a different budget.
Please don't suggest we need a new clinic to Yu Lai Fan. She would love to get that but we still won't have a doctor there after 5 pm. She was very proud of the $20 million helipad and got Chow Yun Fat to open it. That wouldn't have helped David Slough, there was a landing area nearby anyway.
Next time someone has a critical injury on the weekend they will still die if we don't have a doctor
here.
