I walked past Yan Yan about 8 a.m. this morning where there are at least six of those green rubbish bins and there was rubbish strewn around the ground all over the place. It looks like people just throw their rubbish in the general direction of the bins. Please fucking open the lid and put your rubbish inside! It's not that bloody difficult! Cats and dogs tear it all apart if they smell food waste. If the bins are full then go down to Lammadonna's office and ask them to put more bins there. Just be more considerate! Please can someone translate this into Chinese and post it on the Chinese side of this site. It's revolting and people should not do this. It's pure bloody laziness. I'm asking Lammadonna to put up signs by the bins asking people to put their crap inside the bins, but it might take a few weeks to go into effect.

USE THE BINS!

Translating your message into Chinese is revolting and pure bloody laziness?

No need to translate anyway, as there has already been a brief discussion called 垃圾場垃圾筒成日唔蓋好 / 垃圾唔放喺垃圾筒入面 on the Chinese forum back in June. I'll add some of your comments though, VJ. 8)

Good point VJ and what about the ones outside the Island Bar??

FUCK ME!!

Has everyone forgotten SARS?

How many hundreds of people walking past that pile of shite every morning?

I'd love to rub Lammadonna's bloody face in it some morning.

1 it shouldn't be there
2 there should be adequate bins that are easily accessible
3 fine the dirty bastards who can't manage to use them properly

Should we realy need to be going begging to her office just so she can do sod all about it (apart form maybe try to squeeze a photo op out of it)? How about she takes some bloody initiative?

Some people seem not to want to touch the bins, so if the lids are closed they just drop their crap next to them, or even worse, on top of the lids, making it even less likely anyone else will open them.

This happens a lot on weekends when the throngs of tourists go by and discard their food waste.

Always the official action, if any, is to "post warning signs". After 150 years you'd think they'd have noticed how pointless this is. The pigs who do this won't pay any attention unless they're actually fined (or beaten up, if you want to be vigilantes).

Otherwise, flip the lids of all the green bins open as you go by, unless they're actually full or it's pouring down rain, at least then there's a better chance some might drop their crap in them.

I didn't have my camera with me. But anyone who walks around - take pictures and then send them to me or post them here. We'll get 'em to Lammadonna.

Perhaps would be better to take photos of the people throwing the rubbish round the bins & on the floor - could start some sort of "rogues gallery" in here.

Is one of the most viewed forums & blogs in asia - good chance we could embarrass some "tourists" if are seen by their friends, or at the very least people will think twice if they think they might be being photographed.

Or pin pictures of the culprits to the rubbish bins - like they do with milk cartons in the States, although with a slightly different message.

There's no point trying to embarrass tourists, they're here once, dump their crap and are gone. What's needed for them is more open litter bins.

However, most of the garbage strewn around is clearly domestic waste, locals (or perhaps weekenders) are responsible for that.

I lived near a Po Leung Kuk holiday house once, every weekend their guests would barbecue and heave bags of garbage down the hillside later. (I heaved a few back.)

It will be impossible to teach these people to put their rubbish IN the bins because those that don't lift the lid have a fear of touching something dirty. These people need therapy.

Unfortunately the taxpayer will have to finance giant pedal bins, its's the only bloody way to keep their delicate hands clean.

I used to live @ Tai Yuen, I found the area of those bins is terrible mostly at night. It seems the residents drop their rubbish after dining. So, do u feel the light is enough for rubbish dropping at night? Certainly, I agree & mentioned b4 that most people don't want to open the "dirty" lid (actually it isn't dirty). But is the "light" the one of reasons those bastards refuse to walk closer the bins or even touch the lids? They might FEEL the lid is dirty while their vision is not so clear. Or they might FEEL the bin is full coz they can only see the black plastic bag inside the bin, while the bag pumps up if there is no any rubbish to weight down the bottom of the bag. :x

Anyways, hope everyone to drop rubbish IN the bins not only the mentioned but also the bins around u.

I like the faded sign by the bins somewhere along the road from Tai Peng to HSY beach. It says "For rubbish" above three green rubbish bins. I laughed at the statement of the obvious, but maybe it's a good idea.
