As you say..... similar to the Yellow-browed...... think this may be it.

Not from Hong Kong........ but one of the few photos I took in Uk while I was there.
Is the first Snow Bunting of 2009 to arrive on the top of the Malvern Hills....... was over a month early....... flying from Scandinavia & nobody could work out why....... think they know now!!!!

And on the subject of Common Kestrel (female).... this one also taken in UK.

Was up on the Malvern Hills at 06:00 2-3 times a week when I first went to UK trying to get the perfect Kestrel in flight shot...... never did manage it.
However just by chance got her on this Gorse Bush the day before my Mum's birthday..... she liked it so much had it printed & framed (my first ever).
Not as sharp as it could be....... but nice enough.

And on the same day....

Wow! The master has returned. Great shots. That snow bunting is exceptional.

Another shot of the Pallas' Leaf Warbler......

And think this is the Grey-backed Thrush (female) although the back should be a little more brown in colour..... may be an immature.

I think I saw some of these flying across the cable road toward Pak Kok. They looked like American robins and sounded like them, but I wasn't sure what they really were. Does anyone know how common the gray-backed thrush is? I saw about 5-6.

Doubt it Nancy....... thrushes are very much skulkers & very unlikely they hang out in flocks.

Can't really help you out with the ID.... best to get Zep on the job
