Yung Sue Wan valley is getting polluted and uglier month by month. Apparently local district council keeps blind eye on the dump sites. Now there are two. One is rock spoil across the creek. The other is construction rubbish with toilet bowl on top of it dedicated to some local politician during last elections (a very poor and disgusting joke, by the way).
Than, there is always overloaded garbage collection point close to Beer Garden spilling its content onto the footpath. Shops and restaurants dispose the waste there.

Are these dumps legal? How it is possible the Council accepts small diameter culvert under the rock dump while the nullah is so large and likely designed for some catastrophic flows?

It looks like the dump sites are planned for a long time. They should be progressively covered with soil and the vegetation restored.

Read this very long thread for all you need to know about that subject. A very depressing story indeed.

the rubbish and waste dumped over the last six months is a disgrace and shows a complete lack of regard or respect for anyone living here.

i would be interested to know why the councillors will not do anything to prevent such activity.

Personally I suggest about 10 people, (including myself obviously) get together collect the rubbish and dump the whole lot outside the Councillors office, we would certainly see some action then...

The landowners and councillors are determined to convert all agricultural land to building sites, and destroying any agricultural value is the first step in that process.

You can't embarrass them, they're quite open in this and believe they have a God given right to make a fortune by trashing the land.

The government and civil servants are too afraid of them to say boo.

I suppose we could contact Yu Lai Fan our local elected councillor..... ha ha ha,.. actually that would be funny if it wasn't so depressing.

She hasn't done anything in the past about illegal dumping etc... so I doubt that she will now. it will take another councillor to do something, but we shall have to wait another four years :-(
