Wheeeeee I'm on the radio again today! Thursday 24 Oct 2002.!

The "PM Session" on Radio 3 - promoting "Thinking Out Loud"s gigs this weekend.
We'll be playing two tracks that we recorded in the summer!

Here's the link:
http://www.rthk.org.hk/rthk/radio3/pmsession/20021024.html

If you're in HK, that's Radio 3 - 567 on the AM dial.

Natalie Haughton will be finding out our secrets and probing the whereabouts of "Dickstock"

The time? We arrive at 4pm so guessing the interview will be from 4:10pm onwards.

Baaaaad bbChris!

See what you made me do now!

I had to dig through all my dusty, tangled salad of audio/video cables and stuff, trying desperately to find an AM antennae to connect and listen to your interview! I'd never bothered to hook up the AM antennae to my home theatre system before...

Who's listening to AM radio these days?
FM or Internet radio, occasionally...
5.1 DTS surround sound with THX EX, definitely yes...
But mono low-tech, old-tech AM? Harumphhhh!

Well, I got it all hooked up now and it works now, listening to Radio 3 now...

Hey, this is actually a pretty good channel with great music, and ENGLISH-speaking presenters! Wow, hard to find that on FM radio in HK!
I think I might listen to this channel more often now! :)

Thanks for "incentivizing" me into rediscovering AM radio, dearest bbChris!
You're forgiven for making me dig through my cables!

The rthk link wasn't there for nothing.

The TOL part seemed come quite late in the show but it's there.

<warning>
Some of the laughter in that show may disturb younger audiences -- parental guidance is suggested. Or ideally a stiff drink at hand.

Dunno, my psychic powers aren't what they used to be. 8) The power station must be causing a disturbance in the Force. Or maybe it's the eerie laughter that seems to have descended onto our little village tonight...

Let me try anyway...

Ooommmmm<rubbing temples>mmmm<trying_lotus_position>mmmmm...

Ok, I'm getting something, ooommmmmmm, an unequivocal maybe.

bbChris,

Your earth- and forum-shattering lines of Hahahas messed up the layout of this topic by stretching the right border far beyond the screen, making all messages very hard to read! You naughty lady!

I hyphenated your laughter where necessary, to restore order in this topic, and the appropriate column width!

(How do you hyphenate laughter? Sounds like one of these Zen questions like "What is the sound of one hand clapping?)

It seems that pit's warning above was well-justified:

My admittedly modest psychic powers tell me that this one's going to be a hard nut to crack...

I've used up this week's quota of oooommmmmm so we're down to our last resort: deduction.

Are you allowed to roam unsupervised outside your office premises at all between 7am and 11pm? If the answer is yes you might be able to visit an internet cafe or a library long enough to use their computers for this listening act.

If that is against your company policy you might still be able to install something called a PC speaker audio driver to emulate a sound card. Note that since the sound will come out from the tinny PC speaker (sub-woofers cost extra), you are bound to share any laughter streaming from the internet with your mates or (in case they're all your supervisers) your supervisers located in the vicinity.

If installing software on your antiquated office computer is against the company policy you might just as well give up on your quest and go back to downloading pr0n like the rest of 'em...

Hope this helps!

In this case? Ma-ni-a-cal?

Btw, the "peaks" you hyphenated aren't getting line-breaks under Mozilla so I see one massive <something quite indescribable> before the final afterglow.

Better now, after adding a space after the hyphens?

You're using Mozilla? Who's still using that these days, it's so... so pre-dotcom crash, ancient history, man!
Isn't Mozilla the brother of Godzilla or something?

But then, you're reading Slashdot.org, the public mouthpiece of the open source movement, so I'm not surprised...

Well, I admit to being a Slashdotter as well, a quite entertaining read, reminding me of my roots as a hard-core techie almost 20 years ago, before I became corrupted by the irrestistible lure of BIG business and BIG cash of the dotcom boom...

thanks pit, for exploring all the possibilities in working with antique computers. i guess there's nothing i can do with this piece of antique. :computer: :( in case bbchris goes on air again, i think i'll revert to the transistor-age and get myself a tiny radio with the most down-to-earth earplugs ready at the office!
