So with all these restaurants and bars in the village who shines like a star and who sinks like a stone?
I'd say:
The best food on the weekend is at Diesel's, especially the roasts.
The best Indian food is at the Deli.
The best seafood is Lamcombe (or the Tai Yuen Shark's Fin in SKW)
The best Chinese is the one next to the Deli.
The best breakfast is at Dan's.
The best vegetarian is Bookworm.
The best pizza is the Bistro.

Not sure about the worst, I've had a bad experience at least once in most places on the island (and many in town too).

Best Pizza is at Pizza Milano.

And isn't the bookroom the only vegetarian restaurant? Coming top out of one isn't very impressive.

Is the Diesel's roast dinner really good? I've seen it served up and it didn't look very appetizing.

Great timing, Ed!

Today's Lamma-zine Blog title is "'Western food corrodes my innards", a story about eating in a local restaurant. It ends with "Cursed gweilo food defies human consumption."

This is a great topic and we might put up a poll very soon.
But it should be more specific, like "best pizza", "best coffee" or "best sandwich".

Suggestions?

I think the pizza at Pizza milano is also very good, but I don't think they're such good value. They're a bit overpriced in my opinion. And i'm a bnit bored of their selection- maybe a special every now and then.

Also, I would include the Green Cottage as they do a few vegetarian meals. I would also include the vegetarian fare of Spicey's, Deli etc in that seeing is the Bookworm is, indeed, the only vegetarian restaurant.

Gung, I think a 'Best of' would be good, best sandwich (Green Cottage), best coffee (Tropicana, but not the stuff out of the pot in the morning- the ground stuff from inside). Best desert would be the Deli Tiramisu I think. Heaviest would the bakery's cheesecake! No wonder I'm the size I am- I know all these places.

The best ferry pier is the one that leads to the ferry pier.

Let's do some of these polls, might stir up some discussions and that's what these forums need these days.

Should we start with "Best Pizza", maybe?
A provisional list of places is below. Did I forget somebody?
When the list is complete, I'll start the poll.

Pizza Milano,
Bistro,
Water Front (enjoyed a pizza there yesterday),
Bookworm Café (new since Lunar New Year),
Deli Lamma,
?

Frozen pizza from Dan's deli (Used to be about $40), if he still sells them.

EDIT: ---Was in there today; no more pizza. The place is half empty these days.

Although I've only tried Pizza Milano and the Bistro, I would have to go for the Bistro for pizza, but Milano for service etc.
